2018 Fall Registration Information


The Orangevale Youth Soccer Club (OYSC) fall recreational program is available to all children between the ages of 4 and 18 who want to play soccer.  There are no tryouts or prerequisites.  A child that is registered in our program will be placed on a team, providing we have coaches for their age group.  We will continue to register players as long as there is space available on a team and a coach for that team.  We encourage you to register early.  The following are requirements regarding registration including the fees and documents to complete your child’s registration.  Please note that there is a law established by the State of California (as of 2017) requiring all parents/guardians of registered players to read and sign a “concussion fact sheet.”


Registration for the 2018 fall recreational soccer season will be held on Monday, March 19th, Tuesday, March 20th, and Monday, April 2nd, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Orangevale Community Center, 6826 Hazel Ave, Orangevale, CA 95662.  (OYSC is not a program of the Orangevale Recreation and Park District.)


FORMS: At our walk-in registration, you will complete a California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) registration Form (form 1601, signed by a parent or legal guardian.  You may download the CYSA 1601 form here and bring TWO (2) signed copies of the CYSA 1601 form to registration. You may also download our OYSC Team Preference/Volunteer form here. The third form to download, complete and submit at registration is “concussion fact sheet” discussed previously.  Having these forms in hand for each player will make the registration process much faster, however we will also have the forms on hand.

PHOTOGRAPHS OF PLAYERS: Players born in 2013, 2012 and 2011 are NOT required to provide a photograph (with the exception of players born 2011 and that are requesting to play in the next highest age group).  All other players are required to provide a new photo each year.  There are several ways to do this:

  • You may bring a 1” x 1” color photo of the players face to registration.
  • You may email a clear, color photograph of your child to and indicate the player’s name and year of birth in the message line.  The photo must be in .jpg, jpeg or .bmp format, no larger than 3 MB.  It should be a photo of the player’s face.  We cannot accept photos with hats or sunglasses per CYSA rules.
  • A digital photo of your child may be taken at the walk in registration by one of our staff.

CERTIFICATES OF LIVE BIRTH: Please provide a non-returnable copy of the player’s Certificate of Live Birth for all players who did not play in OYSC last year.  A copy of the player’s passport is also acceptable.  “Birth Certificates” also termed as hospital certificates or church baptismal certificates are not legal documents and are not accepted by CYSA for registration.

Registration forms, player pictures, certificates of live birth and registration fees (see information below) must all be received before a player may be added to a team.

REGISTRATION FEES: Registration fees may be paid by credit card (Visa or MasterCard), personal check or cash.  Your registration fee covers: insurance for each soccer player, field fees, referee fees, games balls, soccer scrimmage vests, coach training and the basic photo package.  Your child will also need a required uniform which is a separate fee and can be purchased at Soccer Pro, 11726 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, Ca.

TEAM ASSIGNMENT: Our recreational teams are formed as soon as our walk-in registration is completed.  Practices begin in mid-July.  Your child’s coach should contact you by early to mid-July for practice and team meeting information.

OYSC works through the registration process to form our teams considering all the requests we receive on our OYSC Team Preference/Volunteer form.  We also try to put players with team mates from the same school whenever possible. Requests cannot be guaranteed but we will do our best.  All requests are kept confidential. You may inquire at signups if you are requesting to play in an older age group.

PRACTICES AND GAMES: Practices for the recreational program begin in mid to late July.  Typically, practices are held two nights a week and can begin as early as 4:00pm or as late as 7:00pm.  Your players practice field will depend on their age group (different field sizes for various age groups).

All of our recreational soccer games are played on Saturday.  The first game of the recreational season will be played in mid-August.  Each team will play 10 games. A bye-weekend will be included after the fifth game for all recreational teams.  Generally, half of the team’s games will be played on their home field and the other games in the surrounding area (Fair Oaks, Folsom, Rancho Cordova).  Our U-12 and older teams will play in an expanded area that includes teams from El Dorado Hills.

UNIFORMS: Uniforms are purchased separately at Soccer Pro, 11726 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, Ca.  Players must also purchase shin guards and soccer cleats (available at any sporting goods store).  We recommend that each player also purchase a soccer ball for practice with their team and at home.  Ball sizes for each age group are:  U6 and U8- size 3; U10 and U12-size 4; and, U14 to U-19 up-size 5.

REFUNDS: Refund requests shall be made in the form of a written email or letter to our registrar and can be done through our web site.  Please include details of the player’s name and date of birth.  A full refund (minus the $20 CYSA administration fee) will be granted before August 1st .  A refund of 50% (minus the $20 CYSA administration fee) will be granted after August 1st. No refunds will be granted after August 31st.  Any player who cannot be placed on a team will receive a full refund.
