Folsom Lake Soccer League Quarantine/Isolation Guidelines

Updated August 31, 2021

This document applies to all clubs within the Folsom Lake soccer League:

The purpose of this document is to help Club coaches and staff understand current CDC recommendations related to COVID-19 exposure or infection. If your team experiences a COVID related event or if you have any questions, please email your Club Manager.

Quarantine vs. Isolation
- Quarantine instructions are for anyone that has been exposed to someone with COVID-19.
- Isolation instructions are for anyone that has been infected with COVID-19.

Quarantine Due to Exposure

Quarantine is considered for anyone that has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19.
Decision points are based on three criteria:

1) Unvaccinated
Must quarantine and can return to play:
 - After 14 days* after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19 without testing and without symptoms
 - After day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later) and without symptoms

*Based on specifics of any exposure and any updated CDC guidance, the Club will make the final decisions about how long quarantine should last, based on local conditions, and needs.

2) Fully Vaccinated
Do not need to quarantine and can return to play if they are willing to socially distance 6 feet and to wear a mask at all times until testing is negative or 14 days has passed and do not have any symptoms. (Fully vaccinated athletes testing is at 3-5 days after exposure)

3) Has had COVID-19 illness within the previous 3 months, has recovered and remains without symptoms
Do not need to quarantine and can return to play if they are willing to socially distance 6 feet and to wear a mask at all times until 7* days has passed, and player does not have any symptoms.

*Based on specifics of any exposure and any updated CDC guidance, the Club will make the final decisions about how long quarantine should last, based on local conditions, and needs.

Isolation Due to Infection COVID Test +

Isolation is used to separate people infected with COVID-19 from those who are not infected. Decision points are based on two criteria; whether someone being isolated has symptoms or not.

Anyone needing to be isolated due to COVID-19 illness, who:

Has symptoms:
Can return to play when...
 - 10 days since symptoms first appeared and 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving*, OR
 - After consultation with a personal physician providing written release stating the "athlete is cleared to return to play after recovering from COVID illness”

*Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation

Note that these recommendations do not apply to people with severe COVID-19 or with weakened immune systems (immunocompromised).

Has NO symptoms:
Can return to play when...
 - 10 days have passed since a positive viral test for COVID-19, OR
 - After consultation with a personal physician providing written release stating the “athlete is cleared to return to play after recovering from COVID illness”
